We realize that your opinion of a church begins with even the little things like its name and website. Today, most people come to a website like this to find out all they can about a church before they ever walk through its doors. Well, here’s some information that we hope you will find helpful as an introduction to our church:
Highland Baptist Church is far more than the building located on Highland Road in Parkesburg, PA. HBC is actually the group of people who joyfully gather together several times throughout the week to worship God, pray to Him, learn from His written Word, and mutually encourage one another to live lives obedient to His Word.
When we gather together on Sundays, we spend time singing as a congregation, and at times, we also enjoy the music of our choir, a soloist, or a small group. We read a particular passage of Scripture that fits the theme for the day, and we spend some time in prayer for our church as a whole. All of these elements of worship help prepare our hearts and minds to hear the message from God’s Word. Our preaching is centered on the Bible, so that people can come to know Jesus Christ and grow to be like Him.
On Sundays, our congregation dresses anywhere from business casual (polo shirts, dress slacks, or even a nice pair of jeans) to a full suit or dress. While none of these styles are required of anyone, we believe that when God’s people gather to worship Him, they ought to approach Him with reverence. As for our music, our desire is that its overall message maintains a clear representation of God’s character, so while we try to sing a balance of traditional and modern hymns, it’s always conservative in style.
We have several Sunday School classes for adults, teens, and children, as well as two nurseries (infant and toddler) ready to care for your young ones. All of our children’s workers have been cleared through the appropriate government agencies before working with any children, so you can feel free to connect with others and take in the teaching of God’s Word with confidence. In addition to Sunday School and nursery services, we also offer “Jr. Church” during our 10:45 AM service for all children from 3 years old to 3rd grade. Before Sunday School begins at 9:30 AM, we have coffee, juice, pastries, and fruit available for all the adults to enjoy as they fellowship together.
Of course, the best way to see what God is doing in our church is for you to visit us. We would love to meet you. If you have a family, please bring them along with you. Our church consists of people from all ages, from newborns to teens to those with gray hair (but who are still young at heart). Each of your family members should be able to find a ministry especially suited to them, as well as a combined experience that is designed to minister to your family as a whole.
Thank you for taking the time to become familiar with our church. If you still have questions about our ministry, please get in touch. We hope to see you soon as we exalt our Creator and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
