Luke 2:52 summarizes the youthful years Jesus Himself lived as His “increas[ing] in wisdom and in stature (maturity) and in favor with God and man.” Although this may be very little information, we trust that God intentionally mentioned these areas of development in His Son’s life on earth, and we can take note of these areas in our own youth. In addition, there are many passages in Old Testament books, such as Proverbs, and New Testatment books, like Ephesians, that speak directly to the lives of teenagers and those that are raising teenagers.
We believe it is our Bible-directed desire to run a ministry that will encourage young people and their families to know God and live in agreement with His word, especially in these early and formative years. It’s our desire that this ministry remains a supplement to the primary responsibility parents have to raise their children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).
Each Wednesday night youth meeting, both Jr. and Sr. High teens receive teaching that applies the gospel and biblical principles to issues of their lives. They spend time playing a fun game, singing songs of praise to God, praying for one another and listening to a message from God’s word.
On Sundays, we have both Jr. High and Sr. High classes available. Our church also encourages our teens to fulfill their role in the body of Christ by getting involved in ministries such as the nursery, Jr. Church, ushering, audio-visuals, and special music.
Our ultimate goal is to lead young men and women to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ and then mentor and disciple them to follow Him with all their hearts. In addition to the organized time of Bible teaching, we encourage growth and godliness through occasional activities, summer and winter camps, and small groups led by the youth staff.
The church also offers activities and Bible studies for children to grow in their faith, hear God’s Word being taught, and have fun.
